Dry-eyed

Through open doors and dusty shelves
I came here asking for your help
How can I live to get so broken, how can I stand to be so close
To someone whose heart I cannot open
And whose life I cannot know
You think I have the strength
To open up and let you in
And walk away dry-eyed
When it’s only you who knows how much I’ve cried
It’s only you who sees me
It’s only in the eyes of someone else
You see the fragments of the love you wish you felt
How did you help me see the wisdom
In the whispers of my soul
Showed me the pieces I was missing
Were buried in me all along
You think I have the strength
To open up and let you in
And walk away dry-eyed
When it’s only you who knows how much I’ve cried
It’s only you who sees me
This is a load I bear alone
All of the love I hold that has nowhere to go
How do I ever try to thank you
How can I hope to say goodbye
Letting my life go by without you
Holding the hope you helped me find
You think I have the strength
To open up and let you in
And walk away dry-eyed
When it’s only you who knows how much I’ve cried
It’s only you who sees me
It’s only you who sees me
