Whispering Nothing
© Anne Sumner 2017
I was scared of you leaving
Didn’t want you to go
I got tired of believing
That the tears that we cry hold some meaning outside
Of the lakes running dry in our souls
If these colours are too bold
You say maybe I’m crazy, well maybe you’re right
Maybe I’ll fall if you stay here tonight
Whispering nothing, you don’t understand
I might not be the fool that you say that I am
Whispering nothing I’d say it was easier without you
Well I told you to listen
And you told me to breathe
You’re already forgiven
And if it doesn’t work out, well I’m pretty damn proud
Of the things and the people we’ve been
Close the door if you’re leaving
You say maybe I’m crazy, well maybe you’re right
Maybe I’ll fall if you stay here tonight
Whispering nothing, you don’t understand
I might not be the fool that you say that I am
Whispering nothing I’d say it was easier without you
I’ve been wanting to cry, I’ve been needing your shelter
I’ve been watching the sky for a change in the light
But where does she go, when there’s no-one to help her?
You say maybe I’m crazy - well maybe you’re right
You say maybe I’m crazy, well maybe you’re right
Maybe I’ll fall if you stay here tonight
Whispering nothing, you don’t understand
I might not be the fool that you say that I am
Whispering nothing I’d say it was easier without you
You say maybe I’m crazy, well maybe you’re right
Maybe I’ll fall if you stay here tonight
Whispering nothing, you don’t understand
I might not be the fool that you say that I am
Whispering nothing I’d say it was easier without you
