Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! I love New Year, it's such a brilliant chance to take stock and look at the year ahead as a blank slate, and prepare for new adventures! 2015 took me on a journey I could never have anticipated and I would like to thank you all for being involved - it's been such a great experience and I can't wait to see what happens next; I'll be aiming to keep the music coming, the last tracks from 2015 are below. I hope you all have a great time seeing in the New Year tonight and I hope that 2016 has happiness in store for everyone xxx

Happy Christmas!

I just wanted to send my Christmas/holiday wishes and to say a big thank-you to everyone for your support and encouragement throughout the year.

I've done a Christmas track for the first time! It's my version of It Came Upon The Midnight Clear - which is my favourite carol. I've been playing it quite a bit lately so if you've heard it and liked it, you can now download it for free via Reverbnation :)

I'll be back in (musical) action from the 29th so hopefully see you then and in the meantime, I hope your festive season is full of love, joy and peace.

Not Sure

Played this song live for I think the first time last night - this was the first song I wrote for the Residual Emotion album back in 2008. I've been reviewing some of my old songs in the light of what I've been playing/writing recently and this worked pretty well live - especially at an Acoustify night where the sound is always great!

Lyrics

I know she hurt you

I know she left you feeling

Disappointed with love

But this is different

We have a shot here and I’m

Finding it hard to give up

Now you’re here at my door

There has to be a reason

Why do you come back for more

When you deny these feelings?

And you don’t see it

And it’s crushing me to hear the words you say

But if you’re really not sure

Who am I to say this is destiny calling

My name and your name?

We’ve been here before

We both know we’re right

That it’s wrong that we’re back here

It has to lead somewhere

I know you told me

You don’t feel ready

And it’s all a little too soon to know

It’s way too early

To fall in love but I am

Finding it hard to let go

Now will you push me away?

It’s not worth even trying

You’re taking this the wrong way

I’m not afraid of what I feel

Don’t say you don’t feel anything

When you’re here in my arms

But if you’re really not sure

Who am I to say this is destiny calling

My name and your name?

We’ve been here before

We both know we’re right

That it’s wrong that we’re back here

It has to lead somewhere

I’m tired of having it

Always almost working out

I’m tired of being the one

That nobody’s sure about

I’m tired of hearing I love you

But not quite enough...

But if you’re really not sure

Who am I to say this is destiny calling

My name and your name?

We’ve been here before

We both know we’re right

That it’s wrong that we’re back here

It has to lead somewhere

Calling For Serenity #ENEP

Over the winter I had the chance to record some vocals for Calling for Serenity, a project raising awareness of mental health issues. The songs are due to be released soon as an EP and you can check out the thinking behind them here. This is something I feel strongly about and anything that helps promote dialogue and acceptance is a good thing in my view. It was also great for me personally to have the opportunity to record in a completely different style to what I'd write myself, and work with musicians of different genres.

I particularly like what Rob's written on the About page -

We’d like to help contribute something towards a world where people who speak about mental health aren’t considered “brave”, but simply that being open about it is normal and accepted as something people can do freely and without judgement.
